There isn't any delay and it is really super important you see the name in the web portal. It really has to be in there IMMEDIATELY. Hit "Ok" on the Settings dialog to submit that change, then sign into the web account here: and look for that new name. This is purely cosmetic and names your "backup" in the web portal, nothing more. On the client open the "Settings." and change the "Online name for this computer" to something new and unique, like add a "zzz" to the front of it. The client says 30 days of version history while my account details on the web page confirm I paid for forever Now, I understand you are having issues but we (you and I) can absolutely get to the bottom of those issues pretty quickly. We really did fix it several years ago and the vast, vast majority of customers are reporting it works flawlessly. I think by "this" you mean the Inherit Backup State has problems? It really should not have issues anymore. This is still an issue 4 years later in 2023 It likely won't fix YOUR issue (based on the fact that you got the client installed already), but it isn't far fetched at all for a whole lot of customer issues.

Recommending a different browser for download fixes like 9 different possible issues. The target audience are people who struggle with computers. And you have to understand, Backblaze support deals with all levels of computer expertise in customers.

It isn't you, it is possibly all the layers of software on the SERVER SIDE (the Backblaze side) that results in a recommendation for a different browser. Now telling me to use a different browser to download the client. As long as it is making progress at least once an hour, just let it run. It might say "clump 123 of 765 clumps" or something like that. Each "clump" has a 3 digit number, and you should get a sense of where it is from the logs. In that log file, scroll to the very very bottom and it should be appending lines that have to do with "InheritBackupState" and downloading various "clumps" (clumps are just sections of your "backup state"). There is one file for each day of the month you ran Backblaze, today's file is called "bztransmit27.log" because today is the 27th of September, make sense? You can open that in WordPad on Windows. There are logs for how it is making progress you can look at, you can find them here:Ĭ:\ProgramData\Backblaze\bzdata\bzlogs\bztransmit\

This will eventually appear here:Ĭ:\ProgramData\Backblaze\bzdata\bzbackup\

It is downloading your "Backup State" which is the entire history of everything you backed up previously. Stuck at downloading its been hours and still nothing

Disclaimer: I work at Backblaze and wrote a lot of the Inherit Backup State code running in your client.
